What is Aurora offering me as a Standing Offer Contestable Customer?

From 1 July onwards, Aurora will offer Standing Offer Contestable Customers the choice to either to stay on your current tariff or go on a contract with us. We will inform you of your options and provide you with details of our contract offers and how they differ from tariffs.

When will Aurora offer me a contract?

Aurora's Retail Division will offer contracts to Standing Offer Contestable Customers from 1 July 2011 onwards. If you are notified that your business is contestable you will start to receive communication from Aurora about our contract offers.

How long will contracts go for?

Aurora offers contracts for one, two or three years.

Will my electricity charges be different on contract compared to tariff?

Aurora will provide you with contract offers that could give you the opportunity to save money compared to your current tariff.

What if I go on a contract and then change my mind?

As a Standing Offer Contestable Customer, you would have the option to revert back to a tariff with Aurora after you have gone on a contract with Aurora or another retailer; however you may be charged an early termination fee and/or administration fee for this change.

Is there a time limit for me to go on a contract?

If your business does not go on a contract within 12 months of becoming a Standing Offer Contestable Customer, you will automatically move onto a ‘standing offer contract' with Aurora that contains the same terms and conditions (including price) as the tariff you are currently on. You can choose to go on a contract at any time during or after the 12 month period.

Will I receive the same quality and safety of electricity on a contract?

Yes. Regardless of whether you are on a contract or tariff or who your retailer is, you will be guaranteed the same quality, safety and reliability of your electricity supply through Aurora's Network Division (i.e. the poles and wires).
