Electricity rates and charges

Effective from 1 July 2010 to the commencement of a new Retial Pricing Determination.

The following electricity rates and charges are available for private residential dwellings. They do not apply to tourist or hostel accommodation or commercial premises.

Standard residential rates

Light and Power – Tariff 31
Fixed Charges 73.862 ¢/day
Energy Rate (all units) 20.823 ¢/unit

Hot Water – Tariff 41
Fixed Charges 14.306 ¢/day
Energy Rate (all units) 12.558 ¢/unit
The Aurora Heating Discount (HydroHeat) (hot water and space heating)* – Tariff 42
Fixed Charges 14.306 ¢/day
Energy Rate 12.558 ¢/unit
* a minimum output of 3.5 kW in the main living area applies for space heating under HydroHeat.
OffPeak with afternoon boost period – Tariff 61
Fixed Charges 18.127 ¢/day
Energy Rate 10.110 ¢/unit
*available for a period of at least 9 hours between 8 pm of every day and 7 am of the following day and 2 hours between 1 pm – 4.30 pm of every day.
OffPeak, night period only – Tariff 62
Fixed Charges 18.127 ¢/day
Energy Rate 9.522 ¢/unit
*available for a period for at least 9 hours between 8 pm of every day and 7 am of the following day.

Explanatory notes

Fixed Charges consist of meter reading, billing costs, part of the meter capital cost and some of the costs of maintaining and connecting to the electricity distribution system.

Energy Rate is the charge for each unit of electricity (kWh) that covers the cost of generating the electricity and some of the transmission and distribution costs.

Quarter means a period of 91 days.

Pensioner Rebate is provided by Aurora to eligible Pensioners as a community service obligation which is funded by the State Government.

Goods and Services Tax (GST): prices include GST.
