Tranche 1–3

Aurora has been offering competitive market contracts for Australian business customers since the National Electricity Market opened up in July 2006. We provide tailored, personalised service to a range of customers across the country to bring them competitive prices and reliable electricity supply.

Tranches 1–3 became progressively contestable between July 2006 and July 2008, based on the size and scale of the business type. Tranche 1 consists of the largest users of electricity, such as mineral processors and heavy manufacturers. Tranche 2 customers are mostly food processing plants and multi–storey office blocks. Tranche 3 customers typically consist of supermarkets, small commercial and industrial businesses.

Tranches 1–3 apply to businesses that spend over $80,000 per annum on electricity – at each site.
