Health and the environment

The main focus of our health-related sponsorships is research, awareness and promotion of environmental health initiatives, particularly matters related to air pollution and its impact on the health of people in the community.

Aurora assists organisations by providing funding for staff, promotional material, marketing advice and community service announcements that promote clean air in our homes and in the outside environment. We also support and sponsor events and activities.

The Asthma Foundation

The Asthma Foundation of Tasmania is Aurora's single largest sponsorship alliance. A major sponsorship arrangement first announced in 2000 involved significant funding to enable the Foundation's three regional educators to extend their current working hours and deliver a comprehensive service unhindered by limited resources.

Aurora's long-standing relationship also includes support for the Foundation's membership drives, school programs, fund raising events like Asthma Whistle Day, information brochures and community service announcements for television and press.

Aurora and the Asthma Foundation were state winners in the 2002 Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships.

Australian Lung Foundation

Aurora has had a long relationship with the Australian Lung Foundation's Tasmanian branch. We have supported their efforts to highlight the importance of clean air for all Tasmanians through forums, event sponsorship, brochure production and the joint promotion of air quality reports following television news programs.

Sustainable Living Tasmania

In response to the growing awareness of climate change and the need to better manage our resources, Aurora has forged an important new partnership with Sustainable Living Tasmania to promote energy efficiency. With Aurora’s support, Sustainable Living Tasmania is working with communities to help reduce greenhouse emissions from household energy and transport sources.

Tasmanian Environmental Awards for Excellence

Aurora has been one of three major sponsors of the Environment Minister's dinner and awards evening. This is held to raise the profile of environmental protection and management within the broader community and to foster a cooperative spirit between levels of government, industry and the community.
