Support for charitable causes

Aurora's Hardship Policy

Aurora's Hardship Policy was developed in partnership with TasCOSS, Anglicare and the Salvation Army to assist people facing a financial crisis. The aim of this policy is to support Tasmanian's in need, build closer links with the community sector and expand the focus of business partnerships.

The partner organisations are provided with funds by Aurora to disburse to people requiring emergency help in managing their electricity costs.

NILS Network

The NILS Network of Tasmania is a no interest loan scheme funded by Tasmanian Community Fund, Aurora, the Federal Group, and support from Westpac.

The NILS Network gives low income earners the opportunity to improve their standard of living through access to reliable and efficient whitegoods, heating appliances, medical equipment and other household goods.

It is a goal of the NILS Network of Tasmania to provide interest free credit to those low income Tasmanians who are able to afford to repay a loan of this type.

Linking safety achievement to community benefit

Aurora's Network Services division recognises the safe working practices of its employees by providing incentive payments to individual workgroups who achieve specified periods without a lost time accident.

The workgroup then nominates a local community or charitable organisation to which the funds are donated. Many thousands of dollars have since been passed on to organisations which included Camp Quality and CanTeen, Giant Steps Tasmania, the Red Cross, local hospitals and emergency services units.
